It’s Alright Now

Watching this…

The Rolling Stones Crossfire Hurricane

Re-imagining this…

Canadian Tuxedo 2.0

Nodding my head to this…

“I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.”

- Anais Nin

And feeling just as tired as I look…

Viva la Fridays. Amen.

Gallin’ About Town, with Skirt!

My much delayed special announcement:  I have a feature in Skirt! Magazine, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it!  If you’re in Charleston, be sure to pick up a copy each month and turn to “Me & My City” to check out what I’m loving, learning, doing (and wearing!) locally.

Here’s a peek of “Me & My City” from the February issue of Skirt!, just for you.

Remains / Matt Pond PA

Matt Pond PA is coming to Charleston on February 1st to play the Tin Roof.  Their music is poignant, moody, fun and damn pretty. “Remains” , from their album “The Dark Leaves” makes my heart feel like it just might explode, and the only way to survive is to turn it up and mid tempo dance it out.

I’ll give you everything that you need
If you want my blood, let me bleed
If you want a ghost, then that’s what I’ll be

(if you remain in me, i’ll remain in you)

Coal War // Joshua James

Joshua James was a MySpace discovery for me.  That’s right, your girl said MySpace.  Back when the molestache and the “wtf is a bath?” look was (ironically enough) sparkly and new, if that gives you any perspective.  But  I love that his music is just as dirty, gritty, and raw, and also just as thoughtful and melody driven as it was back then.  I’m so happy to have rediscovered it recently, because it’s even better than it was.  Makes me want to kiss modern Americana right on the mouth, you know what I mean?

Newfound, Newfangled, New Year

You guys. I can’t even talk about how long it’s been since I’ve blogged.  So how about let’s not? (But if we WERE to talk about it, I would go into great detail about my computer woes.  There would be gnashing of teeth and sackcloth involved, and it would basically be a bummer.)

Instead, let’s talk about how it’s 2013!  Just like a lot of you I’m sure, I find myself completely and utterly exilerated at the beginning of a New Year.  This year, I’m exhilerated x 10 + crack.  I can’t wait to share all of the exciting, creative, beautiful things 2013 is bound to offer.  I’m so hopeful that , in 2013, this blog will become a place for you to share the goings on of your world as well.

Fingers crossed, intentions set, heart full (but thirsty, too).

Burn // Madi Diaz

Madi Diaz with Rachael Yamagata - April 2 '12 @ Highline Ballroom, NYC

I first heard the demo of this song on Kate York’s blog, after she and Madi Diaz had just finished writing it.  I remember sitting on my bed and thinking, “Yeah. Yes. Yep.”  Don’t you agree?

“Burn” is off of Madi Diaz’s latest EP, “We Threw Our Hearts in the Fire”.  Get it on iTunes, y’all.

Cricket // New Song

Last Saturday, Steven Fiore, Entropy Ensemble, and I played the inaugural General Store show.  We had a blast!  I took the opportunity to celebrate Steven’s brainchild coming to life by debuting a new tune.  It’s called “Cricket (Don’t Call Me Out)”, and while the video quality isn’t stellar, you can take a listen below.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us! Can’t wait to do it again, soon and very soon.
